It was a calm day on the mountain–the sun sat in a large, blue, and cloudless sky, the air was still and undisturbed by wind, and the snow glistened like a great white blanket that had been laid across the land. The mountain pass was seemingly void of heartless and was actually quite inviting to an onlooker's eye. A bit farther up the mountain, where the snow was thicker and more plentiful, a young girl had cleared a spot to sit and look down upon the beautiful Chinese landscape. Her blonde hair fell gracefully over her shoulders and she was leaned back, two rather thin arms supporting her seemingly weightless frame. Her langs dangled off the mountain, swinging back and forth ever so slightly. A smile was placed on the girl's lips.
Such a peacful place... Naminé thought, turning her head and looking at the path behind her. As she looked, a group of heartless suddenly appeared, making their way towards a defensless Naminé. She stood up with a start, eyes glinting with slight fear. She had no idea what to do.

Roxas headed up a mountain side lazily. He was tired and wanted to stop somewhere, anywhere. But there was nowhere. Nowhere close at least. Not to mention he was freezing, with only his short sleeve jacket. As he made it to a summit-like area he heard something. Like scurrying of bugs or something.
What is that...?
Roxas ran up to where it was coming from and saw a girl, surrounded by a number of dark creatures. She looked worried, and the creatures looked dangerous, so Roxas wasted no time in drawing his keyblade and going to her aid.
Without a second thought he jumped in front of her.
"You look like you could use a little help?"

Naminé nodded, being careful not to step back in case she lost her footing. She really didn't want to fall to her death right now...nor did she every plan to period.
"I'd appreciate it," she replied, sighing. She really needed to learn how to defend herself, but neither time nor circumstances ever allowed it. She then noticed the Keyblade the blonde held and a wave of recognition passed over her.
Roxas, she thought with familiarity.

Roxas jumped ahead and started slashing the dark things in combo successions. He spun and flipped being sure to stay in front of all of them so they didn't hurt the girl. He threw his keyblade in a strike raid, taking out a couple, and finished off the last ones with two strikes.
Roxas withdrew his keyblade and turned to the girl. He smiled brightly at her.
"You're okay now!"
He dusted off his hand on his pants and held it out.
"Roxas."

Naminé gave him a smile, taking his hand in hers.
"My name is Naminé," she said with a nod. She withdrew her hand and loooked over Roxas's shoulder. "And thank you for that. I don't like admitting it, but I'm a bit defensless."
She shrugged a bit as if it were no big deal. In her book, it wasn't a big deal–not when she had keyblade weilders running all over the place to save her along with all the other defensless people. She pushed a hair out of her face, blinking.

"Hey, don't worry about it. Those things looked a little vicious anyway."
He scratched the back of his head awkwardly. He had already run out of relevent things to say, so he figured he'd start a new conversation topic.
"So Namine...what are you doing all alone up here?"
As he said it, he moved next to her to see the view.

Naminé chuckled at Roxas, shaking her head and closing her eyes. After a moment, she looked up again, eyes opened.
"I was just admiring the view," she replied truthfully. "You don't get to look down upon Ancient China everyday you know."
She smiled again, her hands ending up in their usual position, each fingertip touching its opposite to form a pyramid-like stance.

Roxas liked the view, and he knew what she meant. It was beautiful, and it looked like it went on forever. The city far below them, and the grass lands and mountains even further in the distance.
"Yeah...you don't."
He took in a sigh of relief, because he knew that for this moment he wasn't alone. He looked at Namine, and really looked at her. He had a strange feeling about her.
"Have...we met?"

Naminé turned unreadable eyes upon Roxas. A smile tugged at her lips before they parted to answer.
"Perhaps," she replied simply, turning back to the landscape. She let her gaze linger upon the palace. They had, indeed, met before. "So tell me, Roxas, where are you from?"
She assumed that his answer would be the name of a world, not the name of a person.

Roxas looked back at her. Her eyes weren't piercing, but they were deep and if he wasn't careful, he thought he'd fall into them forever. When she asked where he was from, he paused for a moment. The thought of Twilight Town kind of hurt a little.
"Twilight Town...Hard to say if I'll see it again."
The last part of the sentence was more to himself, but he didn't realize he had said it out loud.
"What about you? Not from here, I would guess."

Naminé shook her head, closing her eyes as she did so. She opened them again, smiling.
"I'm not really from anywhere, I guess. Though, you could say that I too, am from Twilight Town."
She gave a little shrug before turning back to the scenery.
"If I may ask, what makes you think that you will never see the Town again?"

Roxas looked down to the ground. He didn't want to talk about it, but she was so nice. He couldn't just not say anything to her...Besides, maybe it'd make him feel better to get it off his chest.
"Well...I don't know how I left there in the first place. Or how I got here, or how I've gotten anywhere. I guess I can thank Axel for getting me out of Twilight Town, but I'm not counting on him to get me back."
Recalling things to his mind was hazy and cluttered. He was trying to sort out his randomly recurring memories and ones that he already had. It was like sorting out two different lives.
Compulsivly, Roxas shivered. He had forgotten about how cold he was.

Naminé nodded, a flicker of recognintion passing over her face at the word 'Axel.' She vaguely wondered what kind of havoc the redhead had been wreaking upon his former best friend's life before looking at Roxas.
"If you're cold, we can walk down to the village," she proposed. "I'm sure they'll have a fire going somewhere."
She bent down, picking up a small sketchbook and pencil. She placed the former in the wire rings of the notebook as she stood up straight.

"The town?" Roxas said it in a lower, sadder tone. He was still dragging on about his home. As he thought about it, he decided it was better to deal with the now. He had just met Namine, but he already considered her a friend. He had to look on the bright side.
"Yeah...Let's go. Together!"
He walked up next to Namine and smiled goofily.
"You lead."

Naminé laughed a bit at his smiled, covering her mouth with her hand.
"Okay," she said with a nod, turning around and walking forwards. She clasped her hands behind her back, the notebook fanning downwards due to gravity. "So, have you been to any other worlds?"
